The auction for the fourth season of the SA20 Points Table will take place on September 9 in Johannesburg. It will see 541 players go under the hammer. The six teams have already strategically completed their ten pre-signings and retentions, leaving 84 slots for the upcoming auction.

Defending champions MI Cape Town have roped in Nicholas Pooran from the Durban Super Giants, while South Africa’s top T20I player Aiden Markram has decided to enter the auction, having refused the Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s pre-signing offer. Proteas seamer Kagiso Rabada, batsman Ryan Rickelton and wicketkeeper George Linde have retained their spots in the defending side.

SA20 League Captains Revealed

A big contingent of internationals is expected for the auction, with MI captain Ryan Rickelton tipping Dewald Brevis to spark a bidding war. The young South African is the holder of the highest individual T20I score, and has also scored a number of Test centuries for the national side.

Rassie van der Dussen, the man who took the final wicket in the T20 World Cup 2025, is another star on the rise who could ignite a fierce tug of war at the auction. MICT and JSK have pushed the price of the left-handed opener past R3 million, before SEC eventually nabbed him for R16.5 million (Rs 8.3 crore) in a dramatic finish. Another big attraction is Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Allah Ghazanfar, who was snapped up by Delhi Capitals at his base price of R500,000.
